NEW SURVEY ASSESSES UK INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS TRAVELLERS

Lancaster, 12th August 2002 – Teleconomy, the research consultancy and knowledge centre has announced the launch of a new study that will assess the experience of international business travellers from the UK.

The new study forms part of the group’s Consuming mobility research programme and represents the vision of the impact of technology and mobility on society. The study will provide a series of empirical research projects predominantly exploring user behaviour and the mobility of consumers in an attempt to explore what the future will look like and how the consumption of mobility impacts an increasingly networked way of life.

In the first part of Teleconomy’s Consuming Mobility programme, the research will explore and measure key aspects of a business or work related journey. The project is endorsed by Professor John Urry of Lancaster University, a leading international sociologist, and who will act as a consultant to the project.

“Understanding the profile of Business Travellers, their needs, behaviour and attitudes towards the travelling experience will provide an insight into this economically important segment and help B2B supplier organisations and service providers to manage current and future change” commented Philip Low, chief executive officer of Teleconomy.

The exposure of international business travellers to a wide range of service delivery options and experiences whilst mobile is unique and Teleconomy believes that managing the expectations and experiences of this segment is increasingly important over the next 12-18 months as economic volatility continues to prevail.

In this first stage of a larger research programme, UK based Outbound Business Travellers will be questioned about their business travelling experiences, their needs assessed and their behaviour interpreted to provide a holistic view of the travelling experience.
